Japan – a leader in the quality of medical services. Its results in the fields of oncology, neurosurgery, genetic and reproductive medicine deserve special respect. In addition, Japan is considered a leader in life expectancy. For example, according to reach in 2015, the average age for men is 78,7 years old and for women – 85,6. This was made possible with help of the Japanese medicine.

Genetic modification of human embryos in Japan

In May 2016 the government’s Council for Bioethics in Japan has approved the genetic modification of embryos. Carrying out such researches is needed to examine the role of individual genes in their early development, and create new technology for treatment of congenital diseases.

gene modifications
With the help of genetic modification of fertilized eggs may be opportunity to treat diseases of genetic origin. To do this, scientists have to change the spoiled text of the gene to normal in certain cells.

Conditions of genetic modification of embryos

The genetic modification of embryos in Japan is only possible under strict state control. At first, scientists need to obtain permission to carry out genetic experiments. They must confirm the need for such unsafe experiments.
Of course genome editing is prohibited in the clinical setting. Now scientists carry out researches with embryos, which they get, but don’t use them as a result of IVF. Such researches improve reproductive technologies.
A year ago, Chinese scientists attempted to make changes in the structure of hemoglobin and remove genetic material HIV from the human DNA. But they did not achieve serious results. Japanese scientists have spent a lot of time and money in order to ensure all long and happy life without congenital and hereditary diseases.
